Topic: NetRadiant Idea

I think it would be a good idea if NetRadiant added a fillet and a chamfer option so you can round or bevel edges of platforms without having to manually create brushes and use the curve generator.

Looks like other games that support NetRadiant has a feature to make your own curves. Neverball should have this feature as well, it's easier and it saves a LOT more lumps.

Re: NetRadiant Idea

I think it would be a good idea if NetRadiant showed glass and invisible textures at half opacity so that they did not totally block the camera from seeing what is behind them. I have a level where 3 different sections need to have a glass cover on top so you cannot just jump over and ruin the puzzle.
I think it would be a good idea if NetRadiant allowed you to batch-edit the properties of several objects at once. E.G. select 16 info_camp's and, in a single action, set their radius to 0.8 and have ALL of them become 0.8, rather than having to click-click-return 16 times.
I think it would be a good idea if NetRadiant had a button that automatically created edge turf on a box. I think I used edge turf on like one or two levels before abandoning the whole idea.
I think it would be a good idea if mapc also supported logical names for the various entities like "player_start", "goal", "teleporter", "teleport_position", "switch", "brush_group", "path_corner", and so on.
I think it would be a good idea if Neverball let you fork a path_corner, either having it choose randomly, alternately, or based on a switch.
I think it would be a good idea if Neverball added a switch that triggers when you leave its zone. It could have an additional cylinder that grows from the center to the outside, and disappears and loops back when it collides with the main cylinder. Similarly, the enter trigger could have the inner cylinder go the other way (big to small).
I think it would be a good idea if Neverball let you set the height of the switch/teleporter cylinder. Now that I think about it, the height of the graphical cylinder and the height of the actual collider should be separately adjustable.
I think it would be a good idea if Neverball added switches that can enable/disable/move other switches or teleporters. (Allowing switches in func_trains would suffice.) Blocking their location physically only goes so far.
I think it would be a good idea if Neverball allowed invisible teleporters.

If your response to some of these is "But that could lead to deceptive levels" we have Nevermania 05 as an official level.

Level set progress:
01 02 03 04 I  05 06 07 08 II   09 10 11 12 III   13 14 15 16 IV   17 18 19 20 V
(red = in-progress, bold+green = complete). I thought 18 was horrible so I am remaking it. 15 may suffer the same fate.

That would make some really interesting levels

Re: NetRadiant Idea

the closest thing i have seen to an invisible teleporter i have seen in a lvl so far is an old notepad lvl by ht-never. this lvl has an elevator that takes you to a teleporter with a ridiculously large radius, meaning when the elevator lifts you the teleporter is lost in the background and is invisible when you enter it. smile

the other closest thing i can think of is an invisible switch that would instantly trap the ball and lift it extremely quickly to a teleporter in the sky. but i still think invisible teleporters would defniitely be a good idea

Re: NetRadiant Idea

Adding on to post 2, if Neverball had the curves feature like that in Radiant, we would also have some really cool levels to see what you could do with the curve feature.

Re: NetRadiant Idea

yes, but 2 possible prob's i can think off the top of my head is
1: unfortunately i hardly know anything about the curve tools in radiant, but maybe radiant's curve tools might create entities that group brushes that would not be compatible with nb, and/or they might create brushes that themselves might be incompatible with nb? but then the only case off the top of my head in which the brushes themselves would not be compatible is if they have faces that are concave polygons. and to my knowledge you cannot make brushes with concave polygon faces, even with curve tools (but my knowledge would not know this 4sure b/c i have hardly used radiant's curve tools, only really the nb curve tool tongue )
2: according to a post that i think was typed by Elvis, the vertices of brushes made by nb curve tool and radiant curve tools are placed a bit differently, meaning in a lvl by ht-never there was a platform with curve made by nb curve tool and a trim curve made by a radiant curve tool around the platform. you could see z-fighting from parts of the platform curve and trim curve brushes overlapping. not at this is a big problem or a thing of incompatibleness, just a lil nuisance. you could probably snap the vertices of brushes made by radiant curve tools to the 1unit grid, and then move these vertices to fit nicely with vertices of brushes made by nb curve tool smile
