Topic: List of NB ideas (It the it)
(7/28/17: I changed the subject of this thread from "custom switch/teleporter field shapes" because I will be posting more ideas later.
Note for all ideas: I someday hope to learn more about code etc. and try to incorporate some, if not all, of these ideas. I am afraid that some of them could water down the gameplay from how it was originally intended to be. (Example: the text in parentheses in idea 3.)
For a long time I have wished for another, customizable way to shape switch/teleporter (and goal, maybe?) fields in Radiant. I am thinking of being able to draw one or more brushes and linking these into a certain entity (possibly of a new type) in the same manner as func_train. Then the ball could roll into any part of the field of brushes to trigger the corresponding func_train.
This would make it easier to create situations such as the maze that is Argentum's levels 1 (the ball touches any part of the walls of the maze, and an invisible brush knocks the ball into the abyss), obviating the need for tons of info_camp entities. Then again, Elvis and a few other mappers have been able to do sort of unusual things with only circular (invisible) teleporters, such as [spoiler](see attached text file).[/spoiler]
