Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rather than providing us with lots of exclamation points, try providing us with information:
- Your operating system
- The exact steps of what you did so far
- The console output and any error messages / logs

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi p2013125,

Just in case you haven't already tried it:
when it comes to somehow 'technical' questions I always perform a forum-search before asking for help. Sometimes this is enough to find an adequate answer, though sure, sometimes the advice given in older post can be outdated as well...
When using "compile" or "compiling" as search terms it returned dozens of results, here are just two of them:

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All you've said was that it doesn't work. You haven't told us what errors you're getting when trying to compile. Without that information, nobody can help you.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case you're wondering why we need this information - imagine your car broke down, you get it to the shop, then ask them to repair it without opening the hood to have a look at it.

Perhaps p2013125 rather needs a tutorial (of how-to compile the game) than troubleshooting, at least that's the quintessence of the initial post:
"I want to compile neverball... but I can't compile neverball!"

So this little linux-car might not need repair but a little push to get started.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might be right.  After seeing another recent post he made I’m starting to think he simply isn’t able to provide more detailed information about his issues because of language barrier difficulties.

Whatever the case, he visits the forum frequently and I get the impression that he really does want to make meaningful contributions.  Maybe we just make a quick desktop recorded style video going through the motions that he can follow along...  unzip, cd neverball, make,  etc...

I’m pretty oldschool over here running Arch with enlightenment 16 so watching that might just confuse the hell out of him.  My guess would be he is using ubuntu with gnome so maybe I’ll try and set that up on a laptop or something.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it can be pretty tough for someone who's not a native English speaker, since almost everything is English in the world of computing. Assuming you're using Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or some other *buntu distribution, here's (hopefully) the steps to build

sudo apt-get install build-essential gcc libsdl2-dev libsdl2-ttf-dev libsdl2-image-dev libsdl2-net-dev libsdl2-mixer-dev libsdl2-gfx-dev libphysfs-dev libpng16-dev libjpeg-dev libvorbis-dev libvorbisfile3 git
git clone https://github.com/Neverball/neverball.git neverball
cd neverball
make
./neverball

(Hopefully that's all the needed libraries. Correct me if I missed something.)
