Topic: Neverball Extreme

Attention Neverballers, October 2018 introduces 4 brand new high difficulty sets called Neverball Extreme I-IV. This set uses the pink clock items by CSY as well as adaptations of old levels by reshaun and CSY.

These level sets uses backgrounds and textures from Reshaun's iLevels as well as my own background (Morning Volcano).

There is also a Non-Clockwork version of Neverball Extreme, in which the levels containing the clock item are edited with the total time bonus being added to the initial time limit.

Re: Neverball Extreme

Just finished extreme 1, non-clockwork.

  • I think you should add level records. You know, the Easy Medium and Hard times/coins for each level.

  • Levels 3 and 8 appear to be duplicates.

  • Level 4...

    Spoiler

is this just a trick to make us THINK there is some weird gimmick?

  • Level 12:

    Spoiler

the description is incorrect. I think you have the level backwards.

  • Levels 18 and 20 are effectively duplicates.

  • But the bonus levels are really nice!

http://neverforum.com/fmpbo/viewtopic.php?pid=34398 Code to generate levels... interesting...
The only other unfinished level, V, will come after I do all the others. I have a reason for this.

Name pronounced /tʃə.ˈmɑd/ ("chuh-mod") followed by the digits "seven zero zero".

The main difference between levels 3 & 8 is that in level 8, the textures are all the same, posing a greater challenge for the player. In level 3, diamond textures indicate dangerous platforms. Level 8 is a sequel to level 3 and I have two more of these levels in my 4th set. I'll fix the description for level 12 in the next version and add high score records. I'm sorry if there is a weird gimmick in level 4. That level used CSY's clocks and since this is the non-clockwork version, I had to remove the items. I'll probably remove level 4 and replace it with a new level in the next version if that's ok. Also, level 20 is practically level 18 in reverse.

Re: Neverball Extreme

OK. I tried several times to get the clockwork build installed but the make failed on my Ubuntu. So I downloaded the non-clockwork version.

The difference between Extreme1 18/20 and Neverball Medium 13/15 is that in your levels you do the down path and the up path both times, whereas in the originals you did only the down path on 13 and only the up path on 15. So they feel like duplicates.

(Are these all going to feature lots of remixes? Because I have a set planned and I dunno what KodeBreaker is doing with the other three sets, so you could eventually make a set 5 that remixes our levels.)

I might remove some levels I'm not satisfied with and replace them with new ones. Don't worry, remixes count for only a minority of my sets. Most of my levels I make are from scratch.

Re: Neverball Extreme

I just completed your second set, here are some critisisms:

1. You don't have to do this, but make the backgrounds have matching soundtracks. It will make your set more official.

2. I didn't like the amount of straights in level 16. It made the level frustrating and boring.

Other than that, your set is AWESOME! smile

Re: Neverball Extreme

I agree on the fact that extreme 2 lvl 16 has too many straights. I'll probably tone them down in the next version.

@It The It
Why do you always eschew vowels in the word "level"? It is always "lvl" if you wrote it.

@adacrop
Set III has lots of long levels. Not sure if I like it or not.

(Yeah, I realized indenting single lines is pointless.)

Which levels in extreme 3 do you feel are long?

i am fan of quick shorthand maybe sorta lazy grammar / spelling / typing when posting. "lvl" is my shorthand for "level". not only that i like the feel of the "word" "lvl" smile

@adacrop: i have not played your lvls yet but looking @ your avatar i think your lvl looks a lot like a screenshot of a portal 2 lvl made with the basic lvl editor that is built into the vg. too bad there is no longer a companion cube smiley on this forum sad

Re: Neverball Extreme

Speaking of avatars, I have some good levels in my set and I am deciding which one to feature as my avatar... that, or I could show a terminal with the command "sudo chmod -R 700 /" typed in. Hmmm... but that one level is so fun... and then there is that other one...
@ada: The long ones are all levels that have a time limit of at least four minutes. Especially annoying were the walk levels and the one where you spend like 2 minutes on that brown "magic carpet" into the glass tube. And the 10-lap race level. (For something that long there ought to be indicators of how many laps you complete.)
@It the it: The avatar is bonus level II in pack I. Not going to spoil it.

Are you referring to extreme 2 lvl 16 and extreme 3 lvl 20 when you say walk levels?

Nice! I'm looking forward to playing it.

I'm also currently working on a night underwater background. I got inspired by Reshaun's night land, night ocean, night city, night alien, night volcano, night snow, and night snow city to make a night desert background. You have the permission to use night desert in any of your levels.
